Defending Democracy by Law

Examine the logic and risks of using legal tools to constrain anti-democratic movements. Discuss when party bans, surveillance, or constitutional safeguards can protect democracy, when they can backfire, and how courts and intelligence agencies should set thresholds for action. Compare at least three democratic systems and explain what each reveals about the tradeoff between security, pluralism, and legitimacy.
